Vermont House Votes to Increase Fuel Taxes
I just got the following email from FreedomWorks Vermont regarding the Vermont house vote to increase fuel taxes.
Movie Night: V for Vendetta
Tonight Hardy Machia, Bonnie Scott, Kevin Ryan, Jonathan Stauffer, Heavenly and I went out together to see the movie V for Vendetta, another great movie from the people who brought you The Matrix. Again, the Wachowski brothers have created a Libertarian-themed movie where a small group of people are fighting to reduce the power of an oppressive government and to open people’s eyes to it.
City Council Meeting
This city council meeting turned into a tribute to Mayor Clavelle. It started with Joe McNeil and Michael Monte both praising their own efforts and Clavelle’s efforts in forcing the railroad to give up the waterfront for only $1.4 million when even they believed it was worth far more than that or even the $10 million the railroad wanted.
Burlington Electric Rate Increases 22.86%
The Burlington city council approved the proposed rate increase request on Monday, which will now be forwarded to the Vermont Public Service Board for approval. The increase would apply to electric service after May 1st.
Make Trade Not War
I’ve been hearing Rich Tarrant speaking about the issues and his views. One view that I like is that globalization and free trade are far better foreign policies than protectionism and war. The point is that countries do not bomb other countries they depend on for trade.
