I recently received an email asking why I haven’t posted any stories regarding BrokebackMountainVermont.com. I will go ahead and post one now. Recently a group of dedicated Brokeback Mountain movie fans decided it would be a great idea to name a mountain here in Vermont after the film.
At tonight’s city council meeting, during public forum, several people spoke in support of passing a resolution in opposition to the School of the Americas (renamed Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation in 2001, as part of the National Defense Authorization Act.).
That’s right, AOL has finally launched its In2TV service. AOL claims In2TV is the first broadband TV network, with the largest collection of free TV shows anywhere on the Web.
I just got the following email from FreedomWorks Vermont regarding the Vermont house vote to increase fuel taxes.
Tonight Hardy Machia, Bonnie Scott, Kevin Ryan, Jonathan Stauffer, Heavenly and I went out together to see the movie V for Vendetta, another great movie from the people who brought you The Matrix. Again, the Wachowski brothers have created a Libertarian-themed movie where a small group of people are fighting to reduce the power of an oppressive government and to open people’s eyes to it.
This city council meeting turned into a tribute to Mayor Clavelle. It started with Joe McNeil and Michael Monte both praising their own efforts and Clavelle’s efforts in forcing the railroad to give up the waterfront for only $1.4 million when even they believed it was worth far more than that or even the $10 million the railroad wanted.
The Burlington city council approved the proposed rate increase request on Monday, which will now be forwarded to the Vermont Public Service Board for approval. The increase would apply to electric service after May 1st.
I’ve been hearing Rich Tarrant speaking about the issues and his views. One view that I like is that globalization and free trade are far better foreign policies than protectionism and war. The point is that countries do not bomb other countries they depend on for trade.
