At the school board budget public forum, many people spoke out against the currently proposed budget where there would be cuts to BOTH Barnes and HO Wheeler, the two schools in the most low-income area in Burlington.
At tonight’s city council meeting the issue of the local option sales appeared again in the form of a new resolution to put the question on the ballot, again. It’s basically the same proposal as last year, a 1% extra sales tax within Burlington, with the exception that this time there is no promise of property tax relief.
Glyn, Heavenly and I carpooled to Braintree where we had a great meeting with good friends and good food.
Jeremy Ryan announced he is running for city council here in ward 7 of Burlington. He chose to run because he would like to help make some much needed changes to how the city government does business.
There was a presentation and question/ answer period regarding the zoning rewrite.
We held our first campaign meeting this Sunday and I think it went well. The attendance was better than expected. A big thank you for everyone who came and thank you very much for you help!
During the public forums at the last city council meeting, Ron Rualt, a Burlington resident, spoke up regarding the city’s budget.
This was a resolution presented by Councilor George at the last city council meeting asking for the city to provide some way of warning parents of events held on city property that may not be suitable for children.
