A few clients have received letters/emails related to two types of scams.
iDNS Scam
First, the iDNS domain registration scam where they send letters that look like the one below near registration renewal time appearing to be a renewal letter. However, they are actually trying to trick you into transferring your domain registration to their services. If your domain is registered with us or another provider such as Godaddy or Network Solutions please disregard these notices.
cPanel Scam
Second, is the cPanel where you receive an email titled Final Notice: [domain] or Resource limits exceeded on : [domain] stating you have exceeded the resources on your account and urging you to click a link to add more resources or upgrade your package. These emails will direct you to a malicious site and the emails themselves appear to the malicious code attached to them. Here are a couple screenshots of emails clients have received:
Any emails regarding your hosting account that we manage for you will come directly from us, not from cPanel. If you are using VPS or if you have changed the email on your cPanel account to your own, you may receive messages from cPanel. If you receive any and want to know if it’s legit or not, please feel free to forward it to us and we’ll let you know. To be safe don’t take any action unless you are sure they are legit.
